Allegany County Health Department:   Health Department home page.  Services at the Health Department include adult health, children's health, dental health, environmental health, family health, immunizations, mental health, rabies control, radon information, HIV counseling and testing.  See Web site for more details.

Selected Programs from the Health Department:

  • Adult Health Programs:   Communicable Disease, Tuberculosis Program, Family Planning, STD Program, HIV Case Management.
  • Family Health:  Allegany County Health Department, Family Health Services provides early intervention and prevention services, such as In-Home Prevention & Support; Prevention & Education; and Information & Referral Services.
  • Rabies Control:  301-777-5649.  Desires to control rabies so that no humans contract the disease and to control the spread of psitticosis from birds to humans.  Cat and dog innoculations for rabies, collections of specimens for rabies analysis, rabies consultation, animal bite management, and psittacine bird permits are offered.
  • Radon Information:  301-777-5649.  Provides information on the dangers of radon and how to monitor for radon contamination.
  • HIV Counseling & Testing:  301-777-5622.  Provides HIV prevention services, HIV counseling, antibody testing and educational awareness.  Brochures, literature, and condoms are distributed.  Case management services are provided to persons and families living with HIV infection and AIDS.
